Bible Study Notes
I endeavor to study GOD'S WORD fervently, seeking out HIS wisdom, promises, love, commands, correction, guidance, and so much more. I abhor skipping SCRIPTURE, as I grew first in the Calvary Chapel verse-by-verse exegesis and inductive study method. Secondly, I hold GOD'S WORD in high esteem, and I know the intentionality and reasoning GOD utilizes. HE inspired HIS WORD just so, and as sons of Abraham would do what Abraham did (JESUS exposing the Pharisees), so I desire to take GOD at HIS WORD and believe HIM. I am a student of John MacArthur, JD Farag, and Alistair Begg. I spent some time under Jon Courson, Skip Heitzig, and Jack Hibbs as well, but since two of them have joined forces with the False Teacher Network (TBN), I no longer recommend anyone learn from them (which was NOT easy for me, as I learned to pray ceaselessly from Skip, and gained a much better understanding of the disciples, the new covenant, the church, the bride of CHRIST, and the rapture from Jack). There's reasons to distance ourselves from Jon. Maybe good reasons, and maybe not. But when your son faces the same problems you have had, and the term "megachurch pastor" is thrown around... I get uncomfortable. So, I suggest receiving teaching elsewhere. And there are plenty of options. I just prefer to keep things simple. John covers so many bases, Alistair usually brings another perspective to consider, and JD rounds it out with an emphasis on prophecy, love, the GOSPEL, and humility/transparency. Plus, he's Palestinian, which he will tell you is "made up," but nonetheless, a Lebanese-born, Middle-eastern arab. Great flavor. Oh, and current events. He talks to his congregation about everything, so they are not uninformed, and prepared for what perhaps may come, and they have been... a great example.
My dedication to TRUTH is unwavering, as our LORD and SAVIOR tells us that HE IS THE TRUTH. I pray, and encourage others to pray daily or more often for wisdom, discernment, knowledge, insight, and understanding. GOD says we don't receive because we don't ask HIM, and we don't receive because we pray for the wrong things. Let us not forget that Satan is the god of this world, the lord of deception, and the author of lies. Not to mention, there is nothing more deceptive than the human heart (even yours and mine) and it is evil and wicked continually. We need GOD every moment of every day. Let us pray for protection from the enemy, from temptation, and even from ourselves, that we would not give ourselves advice or find ourselves reasoning with ourselves. Let us repent and instead pray and have even more intimacy with THE LORD and pursue HIS righteousness.
I studied text & canon in seminary and ripped through all the arguments and debates; dissecting everyone's opinions, and settled firmly on the NASB20 as my study BIBLE. It is the most accurate English translation today. However, I also learned not to trust any English translation, and so I also use a Hebrew and Greek interlinear. My source is Scripture4All.org, and yes, I tore deep into manuscripts and translation, and I am very comfortable with it. There are occasions, however, when a teacher's translation makes more sense to me, but I will be quite clear in the moment, so others can make their own decisions.
